32
Storey Skyscraper destroyed in Marid's worst fire.
A
fire was reported on the high floors of one of Madrid's
most prominent skyscrapers late Saturday night. The
fire was finally extinguished by late Sunday evening,
however authorities believe the worst it yet to come.
It
is believed the fire, which reached temperatures exceeding
1,400 degress (F), has weakened the steel structure
of the building. Experts fear the entire building may
collapse as a result of the extended exposure to the
high temperatures.
The
32-storey 'Windsor Building' lies in the what's often
reffered to as Spain's 'Little Manhattan', the financial
district of Spain. The building began construction in
1973 took 6 years to complete.
