ASIS
International Announces 2006 Professional Certification
Board
Alexandria,
VA – (January 6, 2006) ASIS International (ASIS), the
preeminent organization for security management professionals
worldwide, is pleased to announce the 2006 Professional
Certification Board (PCB). This group is dedicated to
the oversight of ASIS’ three professional designations:
the Certified Protection Professional (CPP), the Professional
Certified Investigator (PCI) and Physical Security Professional
(PSP).
The
CPP designation, currently held by more than 5,500 active
security professionals, is the security industry’s highest
recognition of its practitioners. CPPs are board certified
in security management, which indicates that they have
at least seven to nine years of experience in the field,
and have passed an examination that gives an objective
measure of a person’s broad-based knowledge and competency
in security management. With the launch in 2003 of the
PCI and the PSP, these new designations will recognize
the professional competency of two operational specialty
segments of the security industry, just as the CPP credential
recognizes the professional competency of those who
manage security.
“We
are delighted to have such a strong board, representing
such a wide range of industries and security specialties,”
said Robert L. Martin, CPP, the PCB’s president. “Our
collective knowledge, experience and strength as a board
will be tested this year as ASIS further strives to
promote certification as a professional competency standard.”
